Our Teaching Approach
Composition Writing
🎭 No more “I don’t know what to write” — students step into a mini drama stage and act out each scene of the composition. Together we discusses multiple possibilities for open-ended endings— this trains students to craft creative and distinctive storylines that stand out in exams!
✍️ Ready-to-use phrase bank for PSLE — students are equipped with carefully curated “toolbox” of high-utility openings, endings, descriptive phrases, and dialogue that works across a wide range of exam topics. Through consistent practice, these tools become second nature. By upper primary, they no longer struggle with what to write—they simply draw from their toolbox and write with confidence, speed, and clarity.
Our Class Approach
Vocabulary
🎮 Vocabulary that actually sticks — through high-engagement activities (e.g. charades, hot potato, Whack-a-Mole, draw & guess), students repeatedly use, speak, and apply each word, this active interaction moves learning from short-term memorisation to long-term retention.
🔁 Repeated exposure across different contexts — key syllabus vocabulary is revisited through a wide range of specially designed passages to let students encounter the same words in different scenarios.
📖 Extensive reading practice, no fear of new passages! — students are exposed to a variety of comprehension texts inspired by exam formats, building familiarity, confidence, and the ability to read quickly under exam time pressure.
Comprehension
💡 Early training for higher-order questions
— lessons are specially designed to give students extensive exposure to different types of open-ended questions, this trains independent thinking and students will learn to articulate clear, well-reasoned responses by upper primary.
🔍 Clear answering techniques — students are guided through a structured approach on how to identify keywords, locate answers, and structure responses clearly.
🚫 No blind copying — the focus is on genuine understanding, ensuring that students every students understands how to arrive at the answer instead of just not copying down the correct ones.
Oral and Listening
🎤 1-to-1 Individual Mock Oral — with small class sizes, every student gets individual speaking time to simulate real exam conditions, which is the best way to train confidence and overcome nervousness!
💬 Exam-ready phrases — students will be equipped with practical, high-frequency expressions that are easy to recall and apply across common topics so they can respond smoothly, naturally, and effectively during oral exams.
🎭 Drama-based learning — instead of sitting and thinking, students act out the scenes, step into the characters’ roles and experience the situation for themselves. This way they learn how to develop ideas more naturally—so their answers are fuller, more expressive, and stand out in exams.
Meet Our Star Teacher
Wang Keyue Laoshi, affectionately known by her students as Yue Laoshi, is the founder and lead educator of the centre.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chinese Studies from the National University of Singapore and is an alumna of Hwa Chong Institution. Born in China and later educated in Singapore, she has personally gone through the Singapore education system and understands clearly how it works—what is expected, and what students need in order to excel.
In the classroom, Yue Laoshi is known for her structured, step-by-step teaching approach, where students are guided clearly through each stage of learning. She builds strong connections with her students and is consistently recognised and well-loved by both students and parents.
An accomplished writer, she was awarded the Singapore Tertiary Chinese Literature Award (STCLA) – Top Award in Prose, and has contributed articles to Lianhe Zaobao. Her strength in storytelling and Chinese writing is what sets her apart from other teachers. She believes that writing should not be reduced to a task or just another composition to complete—instead, she actively works to ignite her students’ interest in storytelling and guides students to discover that writing can be enjoyable, and even something they take pride in.
Having learned multiple languages herself, Yue Laoshi understands firsthand the challenges many Singapore students face when learning a second language, and her lessons are specifically designed to help them overcome common barriers and develop stronger command of the second language over time.
Yue Laoshi also enjoys sharing the cultural richness behind the language with her students. Beyond teaching, she practises Chinese dance and plays traditional Chinese instruments pipa and guzheng, which reflects her deep passion for Chinese artistic expression and cultural heritage.
With extensive experience in curriculum design from established tuition centres, Yue Laoshi has developed teaching materials that are aligned with MOE standards and have consistently led to real improvements in students’ results.
